GBST supports UK industry-wide commitment to improve investment transfer experiences

GBST has joined the growing number of organisations backing the Transfers Charter, an industry initiative led by The Platforms Association to improve the speed, efficiency and transparency of investment transfers across the UK wealth sector.

The Charter brings together investment platforms and technology providers in a shared commitment to address long-standing transfer challenges and deliver better outcomes for customers and advisers. Among the signatories are many of the UK’s major investment platforms, alongside technology infrastructure providers including GBST.

Developed collaboratively across the industry, the Transfers Charter establishes a framework for measurable improvement in transfer processes. Areas of focus include improving communication during transfers, reducing reliance on paper-based documentation and cheques where operationally feasible, addressing inefficiencies associated with non-standard assets, and supporting more consistent transfer processes across platforms.

For advisers and investors, efficient transfers remain a critical part of the overall customer experience. Delays, inconsistent processes and a lack of visibility can create unnecessary friction during what should be a straightforward administrative process. By committing to common objectives and measurable milestones, Charter participants are working collectively to drive meaningful improvements across the sector.

As a technology provider to wealth and investment businesses, GBST recognises the important role technology plays in helping firms modernise operations, automate manual processes and improve transparency throughout the transfer journey. While industry-wide progress depends on collaboration between multiple stakeholders, technology remains a key enabler of more efficient and customer-focused experiences.

The focus of the Transfers Charter now moves from commitment to delivery, with participating firms working towards agreed milestones and reporting against common measures of progress. The initiative represents an important example of the industry coming together to address shared challenges and improve outcomes for advisers, customers and firms alike.

GBST is pleased to support this collaborative effort and looks forward to contributing to the ongoing work of improving transfer experiences across the wealth management ecosystem.
