GBST staff are undertaking a virtual relay to keep fit while working from home and raise money for the NHS: Help Our Heroes campaign.
Employees walk 5km, run 10km or cycle 20km as part of their daily exercise, share details of their route with colleagues and then make a donation to the cause. Funds raised go towards providing care packages for NHS staff staying away from home during the Covid-19 pandemic and helping hospitals set up relaxation rooms where staff can switch off during breaks and between shifts.
Dave Simpson, Head of EMEA at GBST, comments:
“We have always had a very collaborative culture at GBST and it has been a challenge to retain that sense of community during lockdown. Although we’re staying in touch with regular video meetings and virtual drinks, we miss the usual face-to-face interactions and opportunities to socialise whilst working at full tilt on various projects. This virtual relay for the NHS gives us a chance to maintain our strong team connection while working from home by doing something fun and getting active and at the same time raise money for a great cause. The whole team has thrown themselves into the idea and we have raised over £1,300 for the NHS: Help Our Heroes campaign so far, covering more 350 miles between us.”
